MediaAdvisory: WELCOME CEREMONY TO KICK OFF SCHRIEVER WEEK

Release Number: 010915

Team Schriever will recognize its 30-year anniversary as an Air Force installation with a flight formation to accompany reveille at 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, 2015 on the base track and field.

The ceremony is the first in a weeklong schedule of events to honor Schriever AFB history and recognize its daily contributions in the space and cyber domains.

"We are excited to take this time to celebrate our heritage and the positive impact our people continue to make in operations around the world," said Col. DeAnna Burt, 50th Space Wing and installation commander. "We have several events scheduled to highlight our military traditions and the civilian partnerships that are critical to our mission success."

Schriever Week events include a round robin softball tournament, the Schriever Rough and Tough Scramble (obstacle course), a Chiefs versus Eagles volleyball game, a dodgeball tournament and will conclude with the Chiefs Barbecue.

"Schriever Week is really about celebrating our history, our accomplishments and a time to appreciate each other, military, civilian and contractors, of what we do and recharge." said Master Sgt. Andrew Miguelgorry, Schriever Week project officer.

*Media wishing to attend the ceremony need to contact the 50th Space Wing Public Affairs Office at 567-5040.
