I like to keep a book titled “Lincoln on Leadership” by Donald T. Phillips nearby. In this book, the author relates how President Lincoln used several anecdotes to inspire his listeners, from department secretaries and generals, to soldiers and cabinet members. More than 150 years later, his stories continue to provide today's readers leadership

Lt. Col. Timothy Purcell, 50th Operations Support Squadron commander (U.S. Air Force photo) Avoiding not so ‘Great Expectations’
Think about things that caused you concern, anxiety or frustration last week.  Perhaps your utility bill was higher than expected, your kids misbehaved, your boss was upset because you missed a deadline, your performance report wasn’t as strong as you hoped, a meeting ran over 30 minutes longer, your football team blew a 14-point lead in the fourth

Airman 1st Class Ecalnea Tristan Why I Wear the Uniform
I remember a moment in basic training when my flight members and I were sitting in the day room waiting for our Military Training Instructor to pass out our name tags and Air Force tags. When I received them, I stared at them for a brief moment with a huge grin, and I told myself, closing my eyes and envisioning my future, "You are almost there

Being a member of the world’s greatest Air Force for the last 19 ½ years has imparted the requirement for, and necessity of teamwork on a daily basis. A team you will probably see working during the next few months is the 50th Civil Engineer Squadron’s Snow Removal Team. This team relies

4th Space Operations Squadron team members visit Whiteman Air Force Base, Missouri, to see the impact of their space operations firsthand. The Airmen toured the B-2 Spirit stealth bomber, 509th Wing Command Post and a former Minuteman II Launch Control Center. (Courtesy photo) Who are the ‘users’?
On Aug. 6 and 9, 1945, Airmen answered our nation’s call delivering two atomic bombs devastating our enemy. Seventy one years later, Airmen from the 50th Space Wing are an essential component to ensure the 509th Bomber Wing remains postured to deliver thermonuclear weapons against any potential foe.

Keeping traditions
Based on some discussions I’ve had with Chief Master Sgt. John Bentivegna, 50th Space Wing command chief, and as a retired veteran, I want to talk about some traditions I feel seem to be eroding away. I feel that I have a responsibility as a wing senior leader and veteran to ensure we don’t forget about some of these traditions because I enjoyed them when I was on active-duty. I enjoy them today and I hope they continue when I’m gone.

To the men and women of Air Force Space Command,As my last message to you as AFSPC commander, I wanted to let you know how much you mean to Laura and me.  We are humbled and proud to have served with you for the last four years, first as your vice commander, and finally as your commander.  Over that time, we accomplished a lot and moved the ball
