SCHRIEVER AIR FORCE BASE, Colo. — Members of Team Schriever gather to honor the 2,996 individuals who lost their lives in the Sept. 11, 2001 terror attacks at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, Sept. 09, 2016. A wreath was presented by Col. Anthony Mastalir, 50th Space Wing vice commander, and Geri Satterfield, 50th Space Wing protocol chief at the 9-11 artifact display. Don Addy, Chairman of the Colorado Thirty Group, donated the wreath to the base. Addy worked to secure the 9-11 artifacts at installations across the Front Range. (U.S. Air Force Photo/Staff Sgt. Matthew Coleman-Foster) Have we forgotten?
In the wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks there were a number of buzzwords and phrases permeating the American consciousness. “The giant is awake,” “United we stand” and “Let’s roll,” all immediately come to mind. But perhaps no phrase was more prevalent, or enduring as “Never forget.”Clearly, anyone cognizant of what transpired that day

Moving forward
Fifteen years is a long time to be in conflict. Fifteen years ago, I was a new captain early into my second assignment. At home, my wife and I had welcomed our first child, a son. My small, young family struggled to balance the demands of military duty and parenthood. We knew our world would never be the same. What we didn’t know was the world was about to change for everyone. Our nation was attacked in a way few could have predicted, but no one was surprised when the full force of our nation was unleashed on our enemies in response.

Why I wear the uniform
Besides rules and regulations and the fact it is always the uniform of the day, I wear this uniform because it has become a part of who I am. I’m proud of what I achieved, even though I have just started my career.

Default Air Force Logo Chiefs Corner - Week of Aug. 25
Look for, take every opportunity to learnI have been in the military for more than 24 years, but I never realized how clueless I’ve been of the military world outside of the Air Force. I recently had the opportunity to go to the NCO North Atlantic Treaty Organization Orientation course and it really was an experience. I spent the week learning from

Great forces acting on an ecosystem drive evolution. Evolutionary themes of faster predators and increasingly agile prey are common. As predators to our space capabilities emerge, we are breeding instincts and agility into our space warfighters. These are the first steps to evolving the force.

Are you invested?
Unit morale comes not just from one person but everyone in the unit. So what are you doing to improve it?

Legs, back, arms
Last year I was visiting members from the 3rd Space Experimentation Squadron’s Operating Location –Alpha in the Washington, D.C. area. On our way to the Air Force Memorial for a medal presentation ceremony, we passed the Potomac River. I mentioned to Maj. Lyle Hedgecock that when I was assigned to the Pentagon a few years prior, I wanted to try rowing but never got around to it. (Pro Tip: Don’t say things like that to Maj. Hedgecock.)

Default Air Force Logo Chiefs Corner - Week of July 28
We have all said it many times. It seems simple, but do you ever really stop to think about the words you are reading to an Airman or repeating back to the officer you chose to enlist or re-enlist you?
