Grant to provide child support assistance to service members
A new federal grant for Colorado will assist service members with child support and related issues. El Paso County Child Support Services will provide assistance to parents provided at least one parent is active duty. Gary Grambort, an Army veteran with 14 years of child support experience, will be at Schriever AFB Jan. 28, 1-3 p.m. at the 50th Space Wing Legal Office to assist service members and their families. 50th Space Wing to hold annual awards banquet
The 50th Space Wing Annual Awards Banquet will be held on Feb. 8 at the Club on Peterson AFB. The Medallion Ceremony begins at 5:00 p.m., social hour at 5:30 p.m. and banquet starting at 6:00 p.m. The cost of the event is $25 for members/non-members for all ranks. Tickets will be on sale in front of the DISH in Building 300 on Feb. 1, 4, and 5 from 11:30 a.m -12:30 p.m. Cash or check is accepted. Tierra Vista to host community information town hall meeting
Tierra Vista Communities will host its quarterly Community Information meeting at the Community Center on Jan. 31 at 5:30 p.m. Discussion items include: Community Enrichment Council updates, winter weather and winterization tips, utility billing program, solar construction update, and review scheduled community events for February, March, and April. SnoFest party tickets on sale
Don't forget to purchase your party tickets for SnoFest. The last day to purchase party tickets is Jan. 18 and tickets will not be available for purchase at SnoFest. Adult tickets are $21, and childrens tickets are $13, with children under four getting in for free. Get yours at the Outdoor Rec/Itt office today. Call 567-6050 for more information.

Right Start location is moving
Please note that Right Start is moving back to the Building 300 auditorium indefinately. It will no longer be held in Building T-135. For more information please call the Airman and Family Readiness Center at 567-3920.

A&FRC holds Right Start briefing
The A&FRC will be conducting the Right Start brief Jan. 17 from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. in the Auditorium of Building 300 in the Restricted Area. Newcomers to Schriever must attend this brief, which is specifically geared towards newly arrived military personnel, DoD civilians, and their families. Spouses are invited; but the sponsoring member must obtain a Visitors Pass at Pass & ID and provide escort duties. For information or to sign up contact the A&FRC at 567-3920 or family@us.af.mil.

A&FRC to host the Moving Made Simple briefing
On Jan. 24, 8 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. the A&FRC will host a Moving Made Simple briefing for military members, DoD civilians and their families. This briefing is designed to help reduce the stress and confusion often associated with moving, and provides resources tailored for the individual or family. Representatives from the Finance Office, JPPSO and TRICARE will be available to answer any question about processes and entitlements. There will be a going overseas portion to address the unique needs of those PCSing to overseas locations. Call 567-3920 to register.

AFAS provides General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant
The Air Force Aid Society provides $2,000 grants to selected sons and daughters of active duty, Title 10 AGR/Reservists on extended active duty, Title 32 AGR performing full-time active duty, retired, retired Reservists with 20-plus qualifying years of service and deceased Air Force members; spouses, residing stateside, of active duty and Title 10 AGR/Reservists on extended active duty; and surviving spouses of deceased, for their undergraduate studies. A&FRC offers Job Search class
A&FRC invites you to come learn the where and how of a job search, as well as how best to present yourself to the job market. Wednesday Jan. 23, 9:30 a.m.-11:30 a.m. at the A&FRC. This class is for everyone - spouses, active-duty military, retirees, contractors, Guard and Reserve, or anyone who may one day need to look for a job. Fitness Center operating under holiday hours Jan. 21
The Main Fitness Center will be operating under holiday hours, 7 a.m.-3 p.m,. and the Fitness Center Annex will be closed on Jan. 21 in recognition of Martin Luther King Jr. Day. For more information, please contact the Main Fitness Center at 567-6628.

A&FRC offers pre-separation Counseling Briefing
On Jan. 22 from 2 p.m. - 4p.m., A&FRC is hosting a pre-separation counseling briefing. This is the first step to separating or retiring from the military and the riefing is mandatory. During this briefing you will register for e-benefits, begin your individual transition plan, and learn about all the benefits and services available to you when you leave the military. Documentation of this briefing is accomplished through the completion of the DD Form 2648. If you are a year from separation or two years from retirement, start the transition process now. Call the A&FRC at 567-3920 to sign up.

Space Foundation Visitor Center & Museum free for military
The Space Foundation has opened its doors to the Northrop Grumman Science Center and El Pomar Space Gallery. The Northrop Grumman Science Center is home to "Science on a Sphere." El Pomar Space Gallery is home to the exhibit "Launch to the Moon" and showcases such as items as the first space rover, the Soviet Lunokhod, space suits, and various other space artifacts. Both exhibits are free to all military families and are open Tuesdays & Thursdays 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and the first Saturday of each month from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. For more details please visit: http://www.spacefoundation.org/visit

Harlem Wizards to play at Ellicott Highschool
The Ellicott PTA is hosting a fundraising event where The Harlem Wizards will be visiting Ellicott High school on Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. This is a basketball event will be filled with trick hoops and alleys oops. Tickets are $10 for adults in advance or $12 at the gate and $8 for students in advance or $10 at the gate. Please contact Staff Sgt. Tobiah Walter 567-5785 or Staff Sgt. Raul Pasillas to purchase tickets. Also the PTA is requesting volunteers to help with the event. Three members are needed for the souvenir stand, four members for security and five for parking. All volunteers will be given free admission.
