Team Blackjack conducts transfer mission

Airmen with 2nd and 19th Space Operations Squadron conduct a mission operations transfer as Col. DeAnna M. Burt, 50th Space Wing commander, and Chief Master Sgt. John Bentivegna, 50 SW command chief, observe Jan. 21, 2016, at the alternate location. Although the two squadrons have always worked side by side in accomplishing the GPS mission at the Master Control Station on Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado, this is the first time the active duty and Reserve units conducted the transfer mission as an equal 50/50 mix of personnel. Members of 2nd and 19th Space Operations Squadrons observe the GPS Satellite Vehicle No. 70 launch Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, at Schriever Air Force Base, Colorado. The satellite was launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Florida. The Air Force's 12th GPS IIF satellite is encapsulated inside an Atlas V 4-meter payload fairing before being transported to a United Launch Alliance facility for hoist and mate at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station, Fla.
