21st Medical Squadron:
- Schriever Medical clinic will close today (Sept. 11) at 11 a.m. for training and 2:30 p.m. Sept. 20 for an official function.
50th Force Support Squadron:
- Most 50th FSS facilities will close all day for a unit function Sept. 13.
- The child development center and dining facility will remain open, and the outdoor recreation office in building 300 will open 7:15-8:15 a.m.
- The fitness center will close for general use. However, it is available for registered after-hours customers 7:30 p.m. Sept. 12 until 7 a.m. Sept. 14. (To register for after-hours access, or for more details, call the fitness center front desk at 567-6628.)
Enoch (North) Gate Construction: Expect Traffic Delays Sept. 13-19
Drivers who use the Enoch Gate may experience traffic delays Sept. 13-19. Construction will continue in the inbound lane, which will affect traffic flow. Normal inbound lanes will close at Enoch Gate with unidirectional access only based on the time of day:
- Enoch Gate traffic will detour through the outbound lanes 6 a.m.- 2 p.m.
- Outbound-only traffic is permitted 2-7 p.m.
- The Enoch Gate will close to inbound and outbound traffic Sept. 14-15.
- 24-hour access will transition to the Irwin (West) Gate Sept. 13-19.
- Please exercise caution as workers will be present in the area.
Space War Stories
The 50th Operations Support Squadron will host Space War Stories, a forum to highlight the importance and mission impact of the space community, 1-2 p.m. Sept. 16 in the Building 300 auditorium. Attendees must have a secret clearance. Discussion will start with an intelligence brief about a recent success involving the 50th Space Wing and senior operators will share some of their space operations experiences. Weight Management Class
The Schriever Health Promotion office will host a weight management class 3:30 p.m.

Schriever Staff and Family Tour: Register by Sept. 16
Schriever personnel and their family members are invited to a staff and family tour 11:45 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 20. All tour stops are inside the restricted area, and will start with lunch at the Dish dining facility. Space is limited, so it’s first come, first served. Children are welcome, however, most of the tour may be too technical to keep the attention of young children, and the tour will include stairs and standing with limited room, so strollers cannot be accommodated. Please be prepared to provide the following information for all guests 18 or older who do not have access to the RA/base:

Family Game Night

6 Tips to Protect Your Family from Fire
1. Install smoke alarms on each level of your home, outside each sleeping area and inside each bedroom.
2. Install carbon monoxide alarms on each level of your home and outside sleeping areas (within 15 ft.).
3. Post current emergency phone numbers (fire, police, poison control, utilities, etc.) in a common area.
4. Know where your emergency shut-offs are for gas, water and electricity, and how to safely shut them off.
5. Keep a multipurpose fire extinguisher inside your home and a safe distance from your stove for quick access.
6. Plan and practice your escape: know at least two ways out and establish a meeting point.

Fitness Center Adjusts Manning
Fitness center staff will no longer provide coverage on federal holidays and family days associated with Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s. Customers who are registered for after-hours access can still use the fitness center during these days. After-hours access is available 6 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday-Sunday. Defense Travel System Training Courses
A three-day hands-on training course for DTS approving/reviewing officials is scheduled Oct. 22-24 at Schriever. Additionally, a four-day training course for DTS leads/organizational travel administrators is scheduled Oct. 29-Nov. 1 at Schriever. Knowledge Management Center Provides Training
The Knowledge Management Center provides reoccurring classes for knowledge management programs. Classes are offered in Building 301, Room 119, the first and third Thursday of the month.

- Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act: 1:45 - 3:15 p.m.
- Publications and Forms class: 1-3 p.m. (every third Thursday of the month)

‘Strike-Out’ Bowling Event
Family advocacy will host a bowling event during Domestic Violence Awareness Month 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Peterson AFB Bowling Alley. Chapel Family Retreats
The Schriever AFB Chapel will host two family retreats Sept. 13-14 and Sept. 27-28 at the Great Wolf Lodge in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This retreat is designed to emphasize stronger family connections by addressing issues within the family that aren’t always easily navigated, but are crucial to the health and well-being of the family dynamic. Run for the Fallen
The Colorado Run for the Fallen is scheduled 7 a.m. Sept. 14-15 and will go from Fort Carson, Colorado, to Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver. Colorado Homeless Veterans Stand Down
The El Paso County Homeless Veterans Coalition will host a stand down to support Colorado homeless veterans 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 15, at the Colorado Springs Auditorium, Colorado. Several military, veteran and community support organizations will provide a variety of services and products, such as clothing, personal care items, haircuts, flu shots, dental and hearing testing, housing referrals and help with job searches. Military Retiree Information Day
An information day to highlight military retiree benefits and services is scheduled 8 a.m.-12 p.m. Sept. 21 at The Hub on Fort Carson, Colorado. The event is open to all military retirees in the Colorado Springs area. A continental breakfast and giveaways are provided. Military Retirees Activities Office
The Military Retiree Activity Office hosts a monthly meeting for all military retirees and their spouses on the second Thursday of every month at 11:30 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled Sept. 12 at the Peterson AFB Club, Colorado. The guest speaker for the event is Hilary Bryant from Mt. Carmel Veterans Service Center.
The Society of Military Widows
The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank.
