This week

Schriever Base Shuttle Service

Schriever is operating a base shuttle service on a trial basis through Friday. The shuttle will operate in a loop with six stops to help Team Schriever personnel get to activities such as medical appointments, briefings, meetings and unit physical training at the fitness center. The shuttle operates 9:15 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday, excluding holidays, family days and base closures. Stops include:

  • North restricted area portal
  • 50th Space Wing Headquarters/medical clinic
  • Fitness center
  • 310th SW Headquarters
  • U.S. Air Force Warfare Center
  • West restricted area portal

During the trial period, only one shuttle bus will operate in the restricted area. Questions may be directed to Terrence Galloway, 50th Logistics Readiness Flight, at 567-7212.

 

Fall Community College of the Air Force Graduation Ceremony: Thursday

The next Community College of the Air Force graduation is scheduled for Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Building 300 Auditorium. Dress for participants and graduates is service dress, dress for military attendees is uniform of the day, and dress for civilians is business attire. For more information, contact Master Sgt. Time Management Course: Thursday

Learn tips to improve organization, project management, procrastination and how to build a daily schedule. Classes are scheduled 10-11 a.m. Thursday in Building 210, Room 300. Air Force Health Promotion Office: Upcoming Events

  • Friday: The Health Promotion Office will close for training.
  • Monday-Wednesday: BodPod 7:30-8:45 a.m.
  • Tuesday: Metabolic testing by appointment only.

 

On base

Federal Document Shredder: Tuesday

A shred truck is scheduled to be outside of the restricted area north portal 9-11 a.m. and outside of Building 210 11a.m.-1p.m. Nov. 19.

 

Opinicus Vista 19-3 Exercise: Nov. 19-21

The exercise will affect all base personnel. Anticipate delays when travelling on and off base. Plan accordingly for appointments and allow extra time. For more information, contact Tech. Sgt. Michael Jones at michael.jones.130@us.af.mil; 560-5757.

 

Turkey Trot: Nov. 22

The Schriever AFB 18th annual Turkey Trot 2.5 mile run is scheduled 3 p.m. Nov. 22. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 100 finishers and prizes will be awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers. Registration is not required. Arrive no later than 2:45 p.m. to sign-in and for pre-race instructions. The race will start near the batting cages just north of the running track. Use or Loose Leave

Appropriated fund civilian employees are reminded the leave year ends Jan. 4, 2020. Please review accrued annual leave to ensure that the maximum amount allowed to carry over to the new leave year is not exceeded. Use or Lose annual leave must be scheduled for use prior to Nov. 23, 2019, to be eligible for restoration. For more information, contact Alisha Davis at alisha.davis@us.af.mil; 567-5221.

 

Knowledge Management Center Provides Training

The Knowledge Management Center provides recurring classes for knowledge management programs. The following classes are offered the first and third Thursday of the month in Building 301, Room 119:

  • Records Management: 12-1:30 p.m.
  • Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act: 1:45-3:15 p.m.
  • Publications and Forms class: 1-3 p.m. (every third Thursday of the month)

Single Airman Initiative Program Doe Antelope Hunt: Dec. 7-8

Single Airmen Initiative Trips are free for any single officer or enlisted member on Schriever AFB. Participants must have their own registered weapon and be willing to purchase a hunting license once they are approved to attend. Air Force Seeks Logistics Planners

The Air Force continues to seek enlisted personnel interested in retraining into the logistics plans specialty career field. If you are interested in becoming a logistics planner (2G0X1), contact Ed Smith at 567-3082 or Cynthia Shuff at 567-3060.

 

Off-base

Falcon 50 Races

The United States Air Force Academy is scheduled to host the Falcon 50, an event consisting of four different races: the Military Heavy (a 26.2-mile run with a 35-lb ruck), a half marathon, a marathon, and a 50-mile run. Participants must register by April 20, 2020 by searching “Falcon 50” on www.UltraSignup.com. Questions about the races can also be answered on the website.

 

Military Retirees Activities Office

The Military Retiree Activity Office hosts a monthly meeting for all military retirees and their spouses on the second Thursday of every month at 11:30 a.m. The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday at the Peterson Air Force Base Club. The guest speaker is Kent Matthews from the Pikes Peak Area Agency on Aging.

 

The Society of Military Widows

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets at 10:30 a.m. on the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson AFB Club, Colorado.
