50th Space Wing 3rd Quarter Awards Ceremony: Friday

The 50th Space Wing is scheduled to host the 3rd Quarter Awards Ceremony at the Schriever Air Force Base fitness center Friday, 1 p.m. For questions, contact Staff Sgt. Xavier Cordova, 567-5609.

Visitor Control Center to close early Friday

Schriever’s Visitor Control Center and Pass and ID function in Building 15 is scheduled to close at noon Friday. Installation gates will be available to provide visitor pass issuance after noon; restricted area badge issuance will resume Monday during regular duty hours.

The Great American Smokeout

The 21st Medical Group is encouraging Airmen who smoke to take part in the Great American Smokeout Thursday. Smokers are encouraged to abandon tobacco products for the day to bring awareness to the harm associated with smoking and using other tobacco products.

Use or Lose Leave

Appropriated fund civilian employees are reminded the leave year ends Jan. 4, 2020. Please review accrued annual leave to ensure the maximum amount allowed to carry over to the new leave year is not exceeded. Use or Lose annual leave must be scheduled for use prior to Saturday to be eligible for restoration. For more information, contact Alisha Davis, 567-5221.

Clinic closures

The 21st Medical Squadron will be closed on the following dates on Schriever Air Force Base, Colo.:

  • Nov. 28: All day, Holiday
  • Nov. 29: All day, Holiday
  • Dec. 12: 11a.m.-4:30p.m., Training Day

Air Force Health Promotion Office: Upcoming Events

  • Friday: The Health Promotion Office will close for training.
  • Nov. 25-27: BodPod 7:30-8:45 a.m.
  • Nov. 26: Metabolic testing by appointment only. Weight Management Class 3:30 p.m.
  • Nov. 28-29: The Health Promotion Office will be closed.

Knowledge Management Center Provides Training

The Knowledge Management Center provides recurring classes for knowledge management programs. The following classes are offered the first and third Thursday of the month in Building 301, Room 119:

  • Records Management: 12-1:30 p.m.
  • Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act: 1:45-3:15 p.m.
  • Publications and Forms class: 1-3 p.m. (every third Thursday of the month)

Turkey Trot: Friday

The Schriever AFB 18th annual Turkey Trot 2.5 mile run is scheduled 3 p.m. Friday. Free T-shirts will be given to the first 100 finishers and prizes will be awarded to the top three male and top three female finishers. Registration is not required. Arrive no later than 2:45 p.m. to sign-in and for pre-race instructions. The race will start near the batting cages just north of the running track.

Single Airman Initiative Program: Doe Antelope Hunt: Dec. 7-8

Single Airmen Initiative Trips are free for any single officer or enlisted member on Schriever AFB. Participants must have their own registered weapon and be willing to purchase a hunting license once they are approved to attend. Heartbeat

Heartbeat was organized to help survivors absorb the impact of self-inflicted death, to offer the comfort of empathetic understanding and acceptance, and to support each other toward healthy resolution of the grief. Meetings are scheduled for the third Tuesday of the month, starting with Dec. 17, 5 p.m. at the event center. NORAD Tracks Santa volunteer opportunity
The North American Aerospace Defense Command Tracks Santa call center is located at Peterson Air Force Base in Colorado Springs and will operate from 4 a.m.-12 a.m. Dec. 24. Military Retirees Activities Office

The Military Retiree Activity Office hosts a monthly meeting for all military retirees and their spouses on the second Thursday of every month at 11:30 a.m. The next meeting will be held at the Peterson Air Force Base Club. The guest speaker is Derek Wilson from the Silver Key Senior Services in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

The Society of Military Widows

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets at 10:30 a.m. on the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson AFB Club, Colorado. Falcon 50: Apr. 25, 2020

The United States Air Force Academy is scheduled to host the Falcon 50, an event consisting of four different races: the Military Heavy (a 26.2-mile run with a 35-lb ruck), a half marathon, a marathon, and a 50-mile run. Participants must register by April 20, 2020 by searching “Falcon 50” on www.UltraSignup.com. Questions about the races can also be answered on the website.
