Voluntary Leave Transfer Program

Elizabeth Archuleta, Paul Ray and Robert Matthias have been approved for the Voluntary Leave Transfer Program. To donate leave, please do the following:

  1. Complete the OPM 30-A
  2. Request to donate annual leave to recipient under the VLTP

Noncommissioned Officer Professional Enhancement Course

Staff sergeants and technical sergeants who have not attended Noncommissioned Officer Academy and NCO Professional Enhancement Course within the last three years are required to attend the NCO PEC scheduled 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Feb. 25-27 in Building 210, Room 310.

Company Grade Officers Professional Enhancement Course

The Company Grade Officers Professional Enhancement Course is scheduled 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Feb. 19 - 20 in Building 210, Room 310. The course was established to bridge the professional development gap between commissioning and Squadron Officer School with the goal of preparing company grade officers for the challenges of a successful Air Force career.

Flight Commanders Course

The Flight Commanders Course is scheduled 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. March 17 - 18 in Building 210, Room 310. Topics include leadership versus management, legal system and discipline, bullet writing, basic communication and resource management. This course is ideal for those who have not supervised before or are running a flight for the first time.

Nutrition and Exercise Course

The Nutrition and Exercise Course is scheduled 9 - 10 a.m. March 19 in Building 210, Room 310. The course will focus on what the body needs versus what it is given.

TAPS Education Track

The TAPS Education Track is for transitioning members pursuing higher education. The course is scheduled 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. March 26 - 27. This track focuses on topics such as how to achieve academic success, how to research and compare institutions and how to finance higher education. After completing the TAPS Education Track, service members will be prepared to complete an application to an accredited institution, schedule a session with a counselor from an academic institution, or meet individually with education counselors as needed.

Tuition Assistance Brief

The 50th Force Support Squadron is scheduled to host a tuition assistance brief from 3 - 4 p.m. March 9 and 27 in Building 210, Room 310. No appointment is required, and the briefing is mandatory for all first-time TA users. Additionally, any personnel who have not pursued their education in the last year are now required by AFI 36-2649 to have follow-up counseling. This briefing fulfills the requirement.

Informed Decision Course

The 50th Force Support Squadron is scheduled to host an Informed Decision Course 9 a.m. - noon March 31, in Building 210, Room 310. The course is designed to enhance knowledge of Air Force benefits. The goal is to ensure personnel obtain needed information in order to make sound decisions for themselves and their family. First term Airmen and second term Airmen 12-15 months prior to their date of seperation are required to attend pending involuntary separation.

Logistics Planner Retraining Opportunities

The Air Force continues to seek enlisted personnel interested in retraining into the logistics plans specialty career field. If interested, contact Ed Smith at 567-3082 or Cynthia Shuff at 567-3060.

Fuel Sales Unavailable

Repairs to the Schriever AFB Shoppette fuel dispensers and distribution lines are expected to last 12 weeks. During this period, the Shoppette will remain open and accessible during normal business hours. Fuel sales will not be available.

21st Medical Squadron Closures

Thursday: 11 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. training day

Knowledge Management Center Provides Training

The Knowledge Management Center provides recurring classes for knowledge management programs. The following classes are offered the first and third Thursday of the month in Building 301, Room 119:

  • Records Management: Noon-1:30 p.m.
  • Freedom of Information Act and Privacy Act: 1:45-3:15 p.m.
  • Publications and Forms class: 1-3 p.m. (every third Thursday of the month)

    Heartbeat was organized to help survivors absorb the impact of self-inflicted death, to offer the comfort of empathetic understanding and acceptance, and to support each other through healthy grief management. Meetings are scheduled for the third Tuesday of the month.

    Colorado Technical University Patriot Scholarship

    Colorado Technical University awards 50 full tuition scholarships to service members, veterans and their family members each year. The application period runs from March 1 to June 30.     TAPS Youth Programs

    The TAPS Good Grief Camp is a program for children who have lost a loved one who served in the Armed Forces. Good Grief Camp provides a safe space for military children to explore grief and embrace healing. 

The camp is scheduled March 27 - 29 at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Military Retiree Activities Office  

The Military Retiree Activity Office hosts a monthly meeting for all military retirees and their spouses on the second Thursday of every month at 11:30 a.m. The next meeting will be held at the Peterson AFB Hub Feb. 13. The guest speaker will be Michelle Mallin from the HONOR BELL Organization in Denver, Colorado. For more information, call Randall Barrett at (719)  556-7153.

The Society of Military Widows

The Society of Military Widows is open to widows of any branch of military service, regardless of the spouse’s rank. The Pikes Peak Chapter 15 of the Society of Military Widows meets at 10:30 a.m. the last Wednesday of the month at the Peterson AFB Hub, Colorado. For more information, call 331-6689 or 260-8172.

Falcon 50

The United States Air Force Academy is scheduled to host the Falcon 50 April 25, an event consisting of four different races: the Military Heavy (a 26.2-mile run with a 35-lb ruck), a half marathon, a marathon and a 50-mile run. Participants must register by April 20 by searching “Falcon 50” on www.UltraSignup.com. Questions about the races can also be answered on the website.
