    In an effort to enhance the officer talent management system and enable tailored and agile development, the Air Force is expanding the single Line of the Air Force promotion category into six distinct developmental categories, senior officials here announced Oct. 21.

    A Reserve Citizen Airman and satellite vehicle operator for the 6th Space Operations Squadron flies more than just satellites when he participates in canopy piloting. The sport is a landing competition and the first spectator-friendly form of skydiving, also known as “swooping.”
  • 310th SW activates 2nd ops group

    The 310th Space Wing, always growing and expanding, stood up a second operations group at Buckley Air Force Base during the November Unit Training Assembly. One facet of the 710th Operations Group mission is to provide support to geographically separated units within the wing, such as the 8th Space Warning Squadron, 380th Space Control Squadron and Detachment 1, 8th Space Warning Squadron.

  • 7 SOPS Citizen Airman nominated for Lance P. Sijan Award

    Staff Sgt. Michael E. Myers II, 7th Space Operations Squadron, was nominated by Air Force Reserve Command for the 2017 Lance P. Sijan award, Junior Enlisted Category, on August 29th. The award recognizes the accomplishments of officers and enlisted leaders who demonstrate the highest qualities of leadership in the performance of their duties and conduct of their personal lives.
  • 6 SOPS flies the COOP

    Once a year, members from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration travel from Suitland, Maryland, to Schriever AFB to work side-by-side with the 6th Space Operations Squadron for Continuity of Operations training. 6 SOPS, a Reserve squadron and part of the 310th Space Wing on Schriever, specializes in operating the Defense Meteorological Satellite Program satellites.
